President's Council on Alcohol & Other Drugs (2007 - 2017)
The President’s Council on Alcohol and Other Drugs (PCAOD) was commissioned by NDSU’s President in the fall of 2007 comprised of representatives from faculty, staff, and students across NDSU’s campus community. The council was charged with creating a strategic plan to address alcohol and other drug misuse on campus that included accountability at all levels, was far reaching in its scope, included measurable outcomes and reflected the core values of the University. The 2009 – 2012 and 2013 – 2018 strategic plans reflect these efforts carried out by the PCAOD from 2007 to 2017. The council realized many of its behavioral and process goals including seeing drastic reductions in the number of students experiencing certain substance misuse related harms. As such, upon further review of its strategic plan, the council identified an opportunity to build on these successes and expand its focus.
In the spring of 2017 the council created an executive committee with the purpose of determining the next direction for the council's prevention goals. With the President's renewed commitment, the council has since adopted a new mission and vision, subsequently concluding its former name and strategic plan.
