Bonnie Klamm, PhD, CPA
Klamm’s research record in accounting expands serveral areas including internal controls, defined benefit pension plans, ethics/governance, and accounting information systems educational cases. Her publications have appeared in Accounting Horizons, Journal of Information Systems, Research in Accounting Regulation, Journal of Corporate Finance, The CPA Journal, Strategic Finance, and Journal of Accounting Education. Her portfolio consists of 20-plus publications and 30-plus presentations at regional and national conferences.
Two of Klamm’s publications in 2017/2018 are in the Journal of Accounting Education. One is a data governance case that addresses the era of self-service business intelligenct and big data, written with Frederick J. Riggins.The other is a study that examines the implcations of Haidt’s social instuitions model for accounting ethics education, written with Maragaret Andersen. A current in-process project is an investigation of the effect of internal control weaknesses in operating profitability, which would be useful to those analyzing financial statement for investing or lending purposes.
Klamm’s publications reach audiences in practice and academe. Education related publications have resulted in several awards for her and her co-authors:
- 2003 Information Systems Section Mid-Year Meeting Award: Outstanding Education Paper for:“Linking Business Processes & Transaction Cycles” (with Marcia L. Weidenmier).
- 2014 Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance Instructional Award and the 2014 AIS Education Association Best Case Award for “Enterprise System Case Using Microsoft Dynamics GP via myGPcloud” (with Marcia Watson, Joann Segovia, and Mark Lehman).
The publication, “New pension disclosure rules:SFAS No. 132(R)” (with Roxanne M. Spindle) in the CPA Journal, which is a practitioner journal, was the cover story in October 2005. This article wasreprinted in Journal of Pension Planning and Compliance. For academic publications, Google Scholar shows Klamm’s publications have a total of 319 citations from 2013 to 2018.
