NDSU students compete at national sales event

Three NDSU College of Business students participated in the Great Northwoods Sales Warm-Up, a national collegiate sales competition, at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Oct. 20- 22. The competition attracted business students from 21 universities.

Talia Lucken, a junior majoring in marketing from Bemidji, Minnesota, was named school champion for NDSU. She was awarded a trophy and a $150 cash prize. Junior marketing major Reid Sagehorn from Rogers, Minnesota, and junior agri-business major Roger Dickerson from Roseville, Minnesota, also competed on the NDSU sales team.

The Sales Warm-Up is a nationwide sales competition for college students interested in sales as a profession. The competition connects college students with corporate recruiters and provides a venue for faculty to exchange best practices. This year, competitors received more than $5,000 in cash prizes and awards.

The NDSU team was coached by Mike Krush, associate professor of marketing and director of the Center for Professional Selling and Sales Technology.

The three-person team is one of the activities sponsored by the center. It is the only academic center dedicated to developing the sales skills of North Dakota students within the 11 campuses of the North Dakota University System. The center offers a certificate in professional selling that is available to all NDSU undergraduates.
