Steady Improvement in Job Market for Class of 2011
The job market for new college graduates continues to show improvement, according to results of a new survey conducted by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).
NACE’s current hiring index, which tracks anticipated hiring activity, shows college hiring at 127.7, up slightly from 126.4 in October 2010, but up significantly from November 2009, when the index stood at 87.2. (See Figures 1 and 2.)
The index is based on results of a monthly poll of employers. Scores on the index range from 0 to 200; 100 represents no change in activity, scores below 100 represent an expected decrease, and scores above 100 represent an expected increase.
