The program leading to the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) degree at NDSU is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org. ABET accreditation is important, as it ensures that our program:

- Directly involves faculty and staff in self-assessment and continuous quality improvement processes.

Program Educational Objectives
Graduates of our B.S. in Civil Engineering program are expected within a few years of graduation to:
- Solve current and emerging problems in civil and environmental infrastructure.
- Conduct sustainable engineering design incorporating diverse perspectives to improve quality of life.
- Engage in ethical and professional practices, realizing the broader societal implications of civil engineering.
- Serve the profession through collaborative work, leadership roles, professional licensure, advanced degrees, and lifelong learning.
To foster attainment of the educational objectives, the program curriculum has been developed and organized to ensure students will achieve the following outcomes by the time of graduation:
(a) an ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering
(b) an ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data
(c) an ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability
(d) an ability to function on multidisciplinary teams
