ADMISSIONS PROCESS


The Counselor Education Program welcomes applications from all persons who meet the entrance requirements and highly encourages members of culturally-diverse groups to apply.

MASTER'S ADMISSION PROCESS

 

APPLICATION

All applications for the School Counseling and Mental Health Counseling tracks are due February 1st.  Applications received after February 1st are reviewed on a space-available basis.  The requirements for full standing admission include:

 

  • A completed application
  • A minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or a minimum GPA of 3.0 on 10 semester credits of graduate coursework
  • Personal and professional references
  • A detailed statement of purpose

Applications for international students can be obtained online at: https://www.ndsu.edu/gradschool/prospective_students/international_applicants/

INTERVIEW

If faculty members deem a prospective master's student's application promising, faculty members will invite her or him to an on-campus interview.  After this interview, admissions decisions will be finalized.

DOCTORAL ADMISSIONS PROCESS

APPLICATION

Applications are received on a rolling basis.  The requirements for full standing admission include: 

  • A completed application
  • A minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or a minimum GPA of 3.0 on 10 semester credits of graduate coursework
  • Personal and professional references
  • A detailed statement of purpose

INTERVIEW

If faculty members deem a prospective doctoral student's application promising, faculty members will invite her or him to an on-campus interview.  During the interview, the faculty members, as a group, will ask questions of the student.  After this interview, admissions decisions will be finalized.
