Ronald Offutt is the Founder and Chairman Emeritus of R.D. Offutt Company, a family owned and operated business.
The Company is comprised of a variety of businesses divided into three separate operating units; agriculture, food processing and retail equipment. Its cornerstone is a seven-state 140,000 acre farming operation. Founded in 1964, R.D. Offutt Company is the nation’s largest producer of potatoes, with the majority of its 50,000 potato acres under center pivot irrigation. Part of the farming operation includes a 40,000 acre farm (7,500 acres are grown organically), and dairy operation in Boardman, Oregon. This facility consists of 3 dairies milking 25,000 cows. Internationally, RDO also operates a 22,000 acre farm in Krasnodar, Russia. The company also operates food processing manufacturing plants and markets its agricultural production through relationships with major processors.
Ron Offutt is also the Founder of RDO Equipment Co. Founded in 1968, this company owns the largest network of John Deere construction and agricultural equipment dealerships in the country. Vermeer, Topcon and Volvo and Mack truck centers are also integral operations of the company, which now have over 80 US locations in ten states. Internationally, RDO Equipment Co. has partnerships in Russia, Ukraine, Australia, Mexico and Africa.
Ron attended Moorhead High School and graduated from Concordia College in 1964 with a degree in Economics. He is the former Chairman of the Board of Regents of Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota where he has served his alma mater for over 20 years on its board. Ron currently is a member of the Global Leadership Board of the Offutt School of Business at Concordia College and a member of the Board of Regents. Ron is active in the community and serves on multiple boards and dedicates his time to several organizations and charities.
