Appointments for Distance Education Students

Students who live outside the Fargo/Moorhead area may request telephone consultations by following these steps:

1. Call the Undergraduate Center for Writers at 701-231-7927 or email us at ndsu.cfw@ndsu.edu and specifically request a telephone consultation. Let us know a few dates and times during our open hours (M-W 9am-5pm, Th 9am-7pm and F 9am-2pm) that work with your schedule. Please note that phone consultations last 50 minutes.

2. After the appointment is scheduled, you will be contacted by email and asked to reply with this information:

  • the assignment guidelines and other relevant information about the instructor's expectations
  • the issues and concerns you would like to discuss during the consultation
  • a draft of your paper as an MS Word attachment
  • IMPORTANT NOTE: If you do not send your draft at least 24 hours in advance of your session, your consultant might not have time to read it before your appointment.

3.  At the appointment time, you must call 701-231-7927 (CFW consultants do not initiate the calls).

4.  Please understand that the consultant

  • will discuss your paper with you and offer suggestions (not revise the paper for you)
  • might not have had time to read through the paper in advance.
