  • Steven J. Swanson, BS '88, business administration, was hired as vice president/financial adviser for Bell Investments, the Cetera Investment Services program at Bell State Bank and Trust. March 2015
  • Julie (Newman) Rokke, BArch '80, architecture, joined the board of directors at Creative Care for Reaching Independence, known as CCRI, in Moorhead. She is a principal and owner of YHR Partners in Moorhead. February 2015
  • Kevin G. Nelson, BS '89, civil engineering, joined Wenck Associates Inc. in the firm's office in Mandan, North Dakota. February 2015
  • Robert William Fern, BArch '85, architecture, formed the architectural firm of RW Fern Associates in Duluth, Minnesota. After graduation, he started work with Thomas and Vecchi Architects and, after retirement of one of the original partners, became vice president of John Ivey Thomas Associates in 1998. February 2015
  • Tim Dufault, BS '86, architectural studies, BArch '91, architecture, was named president of the American Institute of Architects Minnesota board of directors for 2015. He is president and CEO of the Cunningham Group in Minneapolis. January 2015
  • Stephen C. Glass, BS '86, corporate and community fitness, published a book, "Kinesiology for Dummies," that covers biomechanics, exercise physiology and sport psychology. He is a professor of exercise science at Grand Valley State University in Michigan. January 2015
  • Val (Knudson) Schwartz, BS '87,
    business administration, was promoted to manager of the Customer Contact Center at Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota in Fargo. She began her career with the health care coverage provider in 1990 as a claims adjudicator in the benefit plan administrators section. She was promoted to supervisor and later to assistant vice president. December 2014
  • Frayne Olson, BS ’84, MS ’87, agricultural economics, was named 2014 communicator of the year by the North Dakota chapter of the Association for Communication Excellence and NDSU Agriculture Communication. He is an NDSU Extension Service crops economist/marketing specialist and an assistant professor in NDSU’s agribusiness and applied economics department. November 2014
  • Edward Vance, BA ’80, architectural studies, BArch ’81, architecture, received the 2014 American Institute of Architects Western Mountain Region Silver Medal. The award is the highest honor given to an architect chosen from the western states of Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Nevada. Vance is the founder and CEO of EV&A Architects, an architecture firm based in Las Vegas, Nevada. October 2014
  • Russell Tweiten, BS ’86, agricultural economics, was promoted to vice president of agribusiness consulting at AgCountry Farm Credit Services, Fargo.   October 2014
