  • Kenneth Ward, 86, BS ’52 agricultural engineering, was a retired lieutenant colonel in the Air Force who served for 23 years. He later owned an Amway Corp. business. He lived in Las Vegas.
  • Loretta (Swisher) Arneson, 90, BS ’48 bacteriology, worked as a teacher in Crookston, Minnesota. She lived in Park Rapids, Minnesota.
  • Dale Rummel, 71, BArch ’65 architecture, served in the National Guard and Army Reserve for 29 years. He lived in Bismarck, North Dakota.
  • JoAnn (Giedd) Reich, 82, Diploma ’57 Bismarck Hospital School of Nursing, was employed as a public health nurse and registered nurse. She lived in Bismarck, North Dakota.
  • Alexander Nuss, 63, BS ’76 civil engineering, was a construction project manager. He lived in Johnston, Iowa.
  • Winton Fuglie, 89, BS ’56, MS ’66 agricultural economics, worked for the U.S. Foreign Service and served in Nigeria, Kenya, Thailand and Washington, D.C. Later, he did consulting work in Bulgaria, Ukraine, Russia, Sudan, Uganda and Guatemala. He lived in Sun City, Arizona.
  • David Williams, 58, BS ’89 electrical and electronic engineering, was a partner in Lifetime Antiques. He lived in Fargo.
  • George Maher, 73, BS ’66 animal science, MS ’87, agricultural mechanization, taught at high schools in Buffalo and Lakota, North Dakota, and Gonvick, Minnesota. He later was the farm safety specialist with the NDSU Extension Service. He lived in Fargo.
  • Gary Phipps, 74, MS ’72 zoology, was retired from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Research Lab. He lived in Two Harbors, Minnesota.
  • John Hovde, 80, BS ’58, MS ’69 pharmacy, worked as a pharmacist for St. Luke's Hospital, Fargo, for more than 30 years and then worked at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in St. Cloud, Minnesota, until his retirement in 2003. He lived in St. Cloud.
