Class Notes


  • Loren Larson, 80, BS ’60 history, served in the Department of Defense, Senior Executive Service, as Deputy to the Assistant Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon, in Arlington, Virginia. He later established a consulting firm and wrote numerous articles on national defense and intelligence topics. He was a Marine Corps veteran who lived in Alexandria, Virginia.
  • Virginia (Peterson) Aschenbeck, 91, BS ’50 food and nutrition, lived in Fargo.
  • Robert Saunders, 94, BS ’50 pharmacy, owned and operated Ward Drug in Minot, North Dakota, from 1950 to 1986 when it merged with Northwest Pharmacy. He was a veteran of the Navy Air Corps and lived in Salt Lake City, Utah.
  • Pamela (Wiese) Femrite, 74, BS ’68 medical technology, was a retired medical technician. She lived in Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina.
  • Christopher Stazko, 65, BS ’78 history, was a financial adviser who retired in April. He lived in Moorhead, Minnesota.
  • Yvette Gehrke, 59, BS ’86 horticulture, retired as the city forester for West Fargo in February 2019 after 27 years in the position. She was president and served on the board of directors of the North Dakota Urban and Community Forestry Association and was a member of the Society of Municipal Arborists. She lived in West Fargo.
  • Wayne Perlenfein, 69, BArch ’74 architecture, owned his own firm, Rogers Perlenfein and Associates, for 15 years. He later was principal architect for the U.S. Postal Service, and jurisdiction executive and senior manager for planning, design and construction at the Architect of the Capitol in Washington D.C. He lived in Fargo.
  • Danny Dinkins, 73, MS ’73 education, taught science classes in Velva, North Dakota, from 1969-1976 and on the island of Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands from 1976-1983. After retiring from education, he began working at the Dakota Gasification plant as a chemist. He lived in Beulah, North Dakota.
  • Jacqueline (Pelvit) Foster, 70, BS ’73 biology, MS ’76, general science, worked for the Veterans Affairs Medical Center for more than 30 years, retiring in 2008. She lived in Grand Island, Nebraska.
  • Michael Schnepf, 31, BS ’12 industrial engineering, was the data and analytics manager for Border States Electric. He lived in West Fargo.
