  • Jill DeVries, BS ’92 physical education, MEd ’97, secondary education, was named athletic director at Valley City State University. She is the longtime women’s basketball coach at the school.
  • Craig Askim, BS ’94 animal and range science, MEd ’16, agricultural education, received the Agriculture Awareness and Appreciation Award from the National Association of County Agricultural Agents  for his recent master's thesis on the importance of agriculture education and agricultural literacy across North Dakota and in his county. He is the agriculture and natural resources agent in Mercer County.
  • Todd Weinmann, BS ’95 pharmaceutical sciences, MS ’10, horticulture, was honored by the National Association of County Agricultural Agents in the Program Promotional Piece category for his leadership and collaboration with Fargo Cass Public Health in designing and planting a successful containerized community vegetable garden.
  • Nathan M. Benson, BS ’97 civil engineering, joined Sandman Structural Engineers, a Moorhead structural engineering firm, as project engineer. 
  • James Scott Fournier, BS ’98 civil engineering, joined Sandman Structural Engineers, a Moorhead structural engineering firm, as senior project engineer. 
  • Bryon Fuchs, BS ’97 civil engineering, received the Dr. L.I. Hewes Award from the Western Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials. The honor recognizes outstanding contributions to the highway development program and is presented to a person actively engaged in highway development. He is a transportation engineer for the North Dakota Department of Transportation in Bismarck. 
  • Jason Gullicks, BS ’97 civil engineering, was named the Bismarck, North Dakota, operations manager for Apex Engineering Group.
  • Sophia Hanson, BS ’91 plant pathology, joined Aldevron in Fargo as a quality control analyst.
  • John F. Schneider, BS ’93 economics, was named economic development and finance division director at the North Dakota Department of Commerce. He served as interim director since January.
  • Shawna Marie (Weber) Grissom, BS ’98 child development and family science, received the Professional Research Award from the Association of Child Life Professionals. She is director of child life at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
