Class Notes


  • William Stark, 93, BS ’49 agricultural education, was an educator at the University of Wyoming, Warren Air Force Base and Northern Illinois University. He retired from teaching in 1989. He lived in Grand Junction, Colorado.
  • Lorna (Longwell) Johnson, 93, BS ’47 microbiology, worked as a medical technologist in Wayne, Nebraska, and later at a blood bank in Columbia, Missouri. She was an officer of the music sorority Sigma Alpha Iota, a tutor in the Columbia Public Schools and an alumnae adviser to the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She lived in Copley, Ohio.
  • Elgene (Armstrong) Graves, 96, BS ’45 home economics, was a bookkeeper for her husband’s accounting business. The couple also owned the Viking Motel. She lived in Alexandria, Minnesota. 
  • Samuel Delvo, 83, BS ’64 animal science, worked with the Federal Housing Administration for North Dakota before retiring in 1999. He lived in Bismarck, North Dakota.
  • Riley H. Rogers III, 93, BS ’57 pharmacy, installed the first pharmacy at Mercy Hospital in Valley City, North Dakota. He lived in that community for 50 years and was a past president of the local Rotary, past president of the League of Cities and was mayor for 12 years. He also was the pharmacy compliance officer for North Dakota. He was a Navy World War II veteran who lived in West Fargo.
  • Logan Silha, 68, BS ’73 animal science, operated Lazy JS Ranch near Bowman, North Dakota. He was a member of the North Dakota Stockmen’s Association, American Quarter Horse Association and American Hereford Association. He also was clerk of Grainbelt Township for more than 30 years. He lived in Bowman.
  • James Colehour, 72, BS ’68 physical education, worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs, was a certified athletic trainer at various high schools in the Twin Cities and served on the Bloomington Fire Department. He was a captain in the Army and served in Vietnam. He was a member of the 1965 national championship football team, and lived in Minneapolis.
  • Ruth (Iburg) Neuberger, 87, MEd ’61 educational administration, was a teacher at the elementary, high school and collegiate levels. She later operated a family farm with her husband. She lived in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
  • Larry Albright, 75, BS ’72 mechanical engineering, was an engineer with Bobcat in Gwinner, North Dakota. During his career, he earned 38 patents at the company. He lived in Underwood, Minnesota.
  • Don Zimmerman, 85, BA ’55, MS ’60, PhD ’64 chemistry, was a research chemist and later center director of the USDA Agricultural Research Service at NDSU. He lived in Edina, Minnesota.
