Installed a new TYPO3 skin (backend interface)

Created by Jill |

A new backend skin is available for TYPO3.  It is called "NDSU Default TYPO3 Skin."  Soon it will be implemented as the default skin, but in the interim you can opt-in to try it out.

Procedure to opt-in

  1. Log in to TYPO3
  2. Go to the User > Setup module (at left)
  3. Look for the SKIN section and change the drop-down menu to "NDSU Default TYPO3 Skin"
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the UPDATE button

Important new features

  • Larger icons
  • Larger default fonts
  • Resizable fonts, even in the Internet Explorer browser
    • In IE, use the View > Font size menu to change the font size up/down
    • In Mozilla/Firefox, use CTRL and + (plus) or - (minus) keys to change the font size up/down or use the View > Zoom menu
  • A collapsible page tree
    • Hover your mouse in the left-middle area of the page tree and observe the tall/narrow button that turns dark green.  This button toggles the page tree in/out to give more room for editing pages

While this new skin is in the testing phase, I encourage you to send feedback on the skin so that important modifications can be included in the upcoming release or that features you like aren't removed!  :-)
