Eric Jarabek earned a B.A. in Zoology with minors in Chemistry and Psychology from North Dakota State University in 2002.

Jarabek began as an Undergraduate Research Assistant for NDSU's Department of Chemistry under the direction of Dr. Philip Boudjouk in 1998. He later became an Instrument Technician for NDSU's Materials Characterization Laboratory (MCL) under the direction of Dean Grier and Dr. Gregory McCarthy.

Jarabek became Manager of NDSU's MCL in 2001. His expertise in surface characterization, thermal and x-ray analysis crystallized through participation in advanced instrument training and experience from many on and off-campus research projects. He served as an Instrument Specialist at the Center for Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) for more than five years before becoming Manager of the Materials Characterization and Analysis Laboratory (MCAL).
