Graduate Research Assistant of the Year

Each year, the College of Engineering (CoE) recognizes research achievements of graduate students by awarding the CoE Graduate Research Assistant of the Year. The CoE Research and Graduate Committee in conjunction with the Office of the Dean is soliciting nominations for this award. The deadline for receipt of nominations and supporting materials is 5 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2024.

Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible for this award, the graduate student:

  • Must be in good academic standing.
  • Must be currently enrolled in an NDSU CoE graduate program.
  • Must be conducting original and innovative research.
  • Must not have won this award previously.

Nominations and the Required Supporting Materials

The nominations for this award must be submitted as PDF files by the CoE Departments to Alissa Kuntz at alissa.k.kuntz@ndsu.edu, who will forward the materials to the CoE Research and Graduate Committee. Each Department Chair can submit the nomination for one individual for this award. 

The nomination packet must include:

  • A letter from a faculty member in the nominee’s department, preferably the nominee’s major adviser, describing the nominee’s outstanding research contributions.
  • A summary document, written by the nominee, on the nominee’s name, names of academic advisors, affiliated department, degree being pursued, anticipated completion date, cumulative GPA, and the nominee’s contribution role in research projects (with funding agencies).
  • A list of research products resulting from the nominee’s research conducted at NDSU, including journal and conference papers, patents and patent applications, conference presentations, and any other significant research accomplishments.

Selection Criteria:

The CoE Research and Graduate Committee will use the recommendations and supporting documents to rank the nominees based on

  • Research products resulting from the nominee’s research conducted at NDSU.
  • Quality and impact of the nominee’s research conducted at NDSU.
  • Other evidence of research excellence.

The Office of the Dean will announce the winner of this award.
