Project Lead The Way

PLTW is a hands-on, activities-project-problem-based (APPB) curriculum aligned with relevant national standards. It is collaboratively developed and updated by subject matter experts – including teachers, university educators, engineering and biomedical professionals, and school administrators.  PLTW’s programs emphasize critical thinking, creativity, innovation and real-world problem solving. The hands-on learning engages students on multiple levels, exposes them to areas of study that they may not otherwise pursue, and provides them with a foundation and proven path to post-secondary training and career success in STEM-related fields.

As an affiliate university for PLTW, we train teachers how to teach this curriculum, follow up in their classrooms to ensure students are making gains, and provide high school students with NDSU college credit. NDSU allows PLTW students attending PLTW certified schools to receive course credit by exam.

PLTW's assessment experts apply industry best practices and methods to design, test, and implement End of Course (EoC) assessments for our network of schools.  They report valid and reliable scores on overall student performance within the course.  The End of Course assessment gives students an objective evaluation of their achievement, and stakeholders data to make informed decisions.
