Hello! My name is Betsy, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in North Dakota and Minnesota. My Bison pride runs deep as I received my B.A. in Psychology (2010), M.S. in Clinical Psychology (2012), and an M.Ed. in School Counseling (2014) from NDSU. I’ve had opportunities to practice in the K-12 school system, see groups and individuals in a hospital setting, and continue my work with NDSU college students through managing the tutoring and mentoring resources in NDSU’s Student Success Programs prior to working full-time time at the Counseling Center. Because of my own experiences as a student along with working closely with many NDSU programs, professors, and advisors, I hope that I can help students make the most of all the resources available to them on our wonderful campus.
I am particularly interested in helping students embrace this stage of life by supporting their development of new social relationships, gaining independence, and learning what values, interests, and abilities make them excited. Many of the students I see suffer from depression or anxiety-related issues (including OCD/panic), and I am also very interested in working individuals who are experiencing grief. My theoretical orientation is largely person-centered and cognitive behavioral.
I’m my free time, you will find me drinking a cup of coffee, slightly obsessing over my cats, and traveling with my husband (our favorite destination was Ireland)! I also operate a very small counseling private practice in which I work with members of the larger Fargo/Moorhead community.
