Jaryn Allen, Ph.D.
Psychologist; Assistant Director for Training and Supervision
Hi, my name is Jaryn Allen and I’m a licensed psychologist here at the NDSU Counseling Center. I also coordinate the academic counseling services. I earned my Bachelor of Science degrees at Ball State University in Muncie, IN in Psychological Science and Sociology, with Minors in Women’s Studies and Interpersonal Relations. I earned my Master of Science in Clinical Psychology at NDSU and my Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling Psychology at the University of North Dakota. I completed my clinical internship at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
I am particularly interested in working with students who have concerns related to relationships, eating and body image, anxiety, and addictions. My approach to counseling involves using the counseling relationship to help students gain a better understanding of their relationships, and how their thoughts, feelings, and actions interact in their ways of relating to the world and others. I like to help students gain a better understanding of their own inner wisdom and make positive changes in their lives. Outside of work, I enjoy martial arts, running, playing with my pug, music, concerts, cultural activities, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
