Graduates of the CJ Doctoral Program - Where are they now?


Dr. Lisa Muftic graduated from the Criminal Justice PhD program at NDSU in 2006.  She is currently a tenured Professor & Department Chair in the Dept. of Criminal Justice, Sociology, & Social Work at Western New England University (MA).  Prior to this position, Dr. Muftic was an Associate Professor at Sam Houston State University (TX).


Dr. Kathleen Bergseth graduated from the Criminal Justice PhD program at NDSU in 2010.  She has published several articles on juvenile offender reentry initiatives and restorative justice programming. 


Dr. Lindsey Vigesaa graduated from the Criminal Justice PhD program at NDSU in 2010.  She is currently a tenured Professor in the Criminal Justice Department at St. Cloud State University (MN). 


Dr. Katie Richardson Jens graduated from the Criminal Justice PhD program at NDSU in 2011.  She is currently a tenured Professor in the Sociology and Criminal Justice Department at Minnesota State University – Moorhead (MN).


Dr. Ericka Wentz graduated from the Criminal Justice PhD program at NDSU in 2014.  She is currently a tenured, Associate Professor in the Department of Criminology at the University of West Georgia in Carrollton, GA.


Dr. McKenzie Wood graduated from the Criminal Justice PhD program at NDSU in 2015.  She is currently a tenure track Assistant Professor at Weber State University in Ogden, UT.


Dr. Thorvald “Tod” Dahle graduated from the Criminal Justice PhD program at NDSU in 2016.  He is currently a tenured Associate Professor in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Minnesota State University - Mankato.


Dr. Maria Buchholz-Kerzmann graduated from the Criminal Justice PhD program at NDSU in 2016.  She is currently an Associate Professor (tenured) in the Criminal Justice Department at Minot State University (ND).


Dr. Frank Healey graduated from the Criminal Justice PhD program at NDSU in 2018.  He is the creator of the Center for Criminological Inquiry.  He conducts independent research and provides consulting services.


Dr. Carol Huynh graduated from the Criminal Justice PhD program at NDSU in 2018. She is currently an Assistant Professor (tenure track) in the Department of Criminal Justice at North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC.


Dr. Thomas Mrozla graduated from the Criminal Justice PhD program at NDSU in 2018.  He is currently a tenure track, Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD. 


Dr. Jennafer Vondal graduated from the Criminal Justice PhD program at NDSU in 2019.  She is currently a tenure track Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice and Sociology at Columbus State University in Columbus, GA.


Dr. Chloe Robinson graduated from the Criminal Justice PhD program at NDSU in 2020.  She is currently a tenure track, Assistant Professor in the Criminal Justice Department at Indiana University - South Bend.


Dr. Jenna Borseth graduated from the Criminal Justice PhD program at NDSU in 2021.  She is currently a tenure track, Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD.


Dr. Myungwoo Lee graduated from the Criminal Justice PhD program at NDSU in 2021.  He is currently an Assistant Professor (tenure track) at Wonkwang University in Iksan, South Korea.
