Student Advantage Program
Microsoft has added the Student Advantage Program, which provides students and NDSU employees with free access Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus, a full version of Office software, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook…and more!

Microsoft Imagine (Formerly DreamSpark)
Microsoft Imagine is the new name for the DreamSpark program. Microsoft Imagine supports technical education by providing access to Microsoft software for learning, teaching and research purposes.
The only Microsoft Office application available through the Microsoft Imagine Program is Access.
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and other Office applications are NOT included in the Microsoft Imagine Program. However, these Office applications are available through the Microsoft Student Advantage Program: www.ndsu.edu/its/free-microsoft-office
Information you need to know about the Microsoft Microsoft Imagine Program
- Your NDSU email address is your user name: firstname.lastname@example.org
- Some browsers may not download from the online store correctly. If you have problems downloading the software try using a different browser. The Chrome browser has been identified as a browser that has had problems downloading.
You must be qualified
In order to participate in the Microsoft Microsoft Imagine program you must be currently enrolled in a STEM courses at NDSU. The Microsoft Imagine license requires that we verify current enrollment. All STEM courses qualify for the program. Students will be sent an email with instructions at the beginning of the semester.
If you believe you qualify for this program and have not received an email message with instructions by the beginning of the fourth week of class, contact Betty.Opheim@ndsu.edu OR if you are an Engineering student, contact Steven.Gruver@ndsu.edu.
These email messages are sent to your NDSU email account. Be sure to check your NDSU email account (including Deleted Items/Trash/Junk mail) before contacting your administrator.
How to order
At the beginning of each semester you will receive notification from the Microsoft Imagine web site that will provide you with:
- Link to the Microsoft Imagine web site: https://ndsu.onthehub.com/
- Your Microsoft Imagine user name
- Your password
KEEP THIS EMAIL MESSAGE. You will need the account information to download your software.
If you have forgotten or lost your password use the “Forgot Password” link on the Microsoft Imagine sign in page.
If you have any technical difficulties, please see the FAQ section of the Help page on the website.
Step 1: Sign in with your user name and password using the link in the upper right of page.
Step 2: Click on Students. This will take you to the Microsoft Imagine Premium software as well as other offerings.
Step 3: Select the software that you wish to order. Select the correct delivery method:
- Download — download the software directly to your computer for free.
- Your software product key will be displayed when you checkout. Be make a copy your software product key.
Microsoft Imagine Subscription Terms
Microsoft Imagine subscriptions offer each user the right to use the software included in the subscription to design, develop, test, and demonstrate their products. The licensing requirement will be displayed when you order a product.
