Course Description:

The North Dakota State University Gerontology Program has developed a curriculum for professionals addressing aging and mental health. The online curriculum offers 13 hours of training in six course modules. The modules can be completed indiviudully at a pace that is convenient for the participant. After satisfactory completion of each module, students will recieve a certificate of completion.

Module Topics:

  • Overview on Aging and Mental Health
  • Assessment and Diagonosis
  • Changes to the Aging Brain and the Impact on Mental Health
  • Psychosocial Treatment of Mental Disorders in Older Adults
  • Wellness and Prevention
  • Resources and Referrals for Older Clients

Special Instructions:

Students have 4 months from the time access is given to complete the training.

This program is approved by the National Association of Social Workers (provider #886512248) for 13 CEU contact hours.

This program is approved by the National Board of Certified Counselors for 1.3 CEUs (13 continuing education contact hours.

This program is approved for general CEUs by NDSU-DCE for .1 to 1.3 CEUs (1 to 13 contact hours).
