Fitness, Strength & Nutrition

HNES 2000

This course is designed to learn about a variety of fitness topics. Combining the latest research with sound medical advice and including aerobic fitness, flexibility, strength and nutrition. Students will have the opportunity to listen to expert presenters from areas of individual fitness, healthy living and nutrition. In this course students will be asked to reflect upon and compare theoretical and pedagogical perspectives of multiple experts. The reflection will help students better understand the relationships between improved health and improved fitness.


This course will help Pre K- 12 teachers by equipping them with strategies to help their student’s cope with daily life stressors and help them incorporate healthy lifestyle choices.

2 day course topic sessions:

  • Introduction and course objectives                                                                            
  • High Intensity Strength workouts                                                      
  • Nutrition/Diet trends
  • Kettlebell training
  • Aging Well
  • Demonstration of practical / safe methods of strength training                                        
  • Yoga                                                                                      
  • Building Blocks for Young Athletes
  • Muscle Recovery Stretching
  • Discussion and Evaluation
