This course is intended to increase your awareness and understanding of important issues regarding youth sport and physical activity.
- identify and discuss the benefits and difficulties of defining youth sport as a modern social institution.
- demonstarte an understanding of current issues/problems/concerns related to youth sport and physical activity in the United States.
- identify specific responses to the various ethical and moral dilemmas facing parents and athletes in youth sport settings.
- understand the positive and negative consequences of the way youth sport is organized and coached in American society.

About The InstructorBradford Strand
Dr. Strand earned his Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction in Physical Education from University of New Mexico. He received his M.S. in Education with emphasis in Physical Education from North Dakota State University and his B.A. in Physical Education & Social Studies. Dr. Strand's area of expertise is in Physical Education & Teacher Preparation and is the Program Coordinator for the Department of Health, Nutrition & Exercise Sciences at NDSU. Dr. Strand has over 32+ years of teaching experience.
