Course Description:

Trauma Sensitive Schools Training for Educators includes 5 modules. This 2 day workshop will cover what comes after the TSS foundation modules. We will be covering Compassionate Classroom Strategies that are trauma informed. This is a 2 day training on trauma and mental health issues in the classroom and how educators can best apply solutions or strategies to support their students in the school setting. The participants will also need to attend all of the 2 day training, watch videos, read articles related to trauma research, as well as complete reflections after each session to prepare how they will use the information in their classrooms or with their students to apply their trauma lens strategies.


Participants will:

  • attend all of the 2 day face to face training sessions.
  • demonstrate understanding of the content of each module by completing a reflection of learning after each session, due the next session.
  • create a plan to implement strategies with a student/ classroom.

Required Student Resources:

Handouts will be provided for participants. Books, articles and resources will be suggested for further reading on the topic.

About The Instructor

Laura Sokolofsky

Ms. Sokolofsky received her M.Ed. in Guidance & Counseling at North Dakota State University and her B.S. in Elementary Education from Moorhead State University. Laura received many awards including being nominated for the 2016 YWCA Woman of the Year in Education receiving the 2012 ND Outstanding Counselor of the Year. She has 19+ years counseling/teaching experience.
