Course Description:

The COCA conference (Children’s Oncology Camping Association) is for teachers focusing on working with students with life threatening diseases and will include topics on risk management, training, hospital based initiatives, survivorship, how to treat children with a disease in your classroom, behavior, learning environments, as well as many topics working with children in an outdoor learning setting.

Objectives:

To help educators understand and incorporate the following topics:

  • Programs risk management
  • Staff training
  • Hospital based initiatives
  • Counselors in training
  • Camper behavior
  • Camp as a learning environment
  • Arts and crafts, and many more 

While getting connected with educational resources available to teach these topics and enhance creative thinking and problem-solving skills while learning about the value of teaching children with a life threatening disease.
