This book study seeks to support teachers that may be feeling overwhelmed, underappreciated, fatigued, worn out or burned out from the teaching profession. The author of the text asks teachers to examine how they can enhance their well-being both on and off the job. Teachers will have the opportunity to reflect on the text and apply it to their own practice. The text “describes specific steps related to mindfulness, empathy, gratitude, and altruism that [teachers] can use on [their] own and with students via classroom lessons and activities. Equipped with these tools, teachers can be their best, so they can give their best to the learners in their care.”
This course is self-paced to allow teachers to work around their individual schedules.
After reading this professional text:
1. Teachers will reflect on what they have read and complete chapter check-ins.
2. Teachers will be able to answer the critical question: How do I refuel, reenergize, and reframe to be my best as a teacher so I can give my best to learners?
The Burnout Cure was a great read for putting things in perspective. Many tools and real life applications were included in the book, some of which I am already using and trying out this school year!"
"It was a great book and the reflection assignments were very meaningful and purposeful."
"It is a topic that is relevant to every person working in the education field."
"Great reminder as to why I got into teaching and how to prevent me from burning out and feeling overwhelmed."
"Enjoyed being able to read at my own pace and reflect on how I can implement the material into my classroom."
