Beginning May 15, 2017, NDSU's K-12 professional development class number will change from 600 to 2000 (ex. EDUC 2000). Please note this change will be applied systemwide to the North Dakota University System (NDUS) institutions.

When planning to take summer professional development classes or classes after Summer Semester 2017, which begins May 15, 2017, you will see classes listed on our website as EDUC 2000, HNES 2000 and so forth. Listed below is a brief list of questions we anticipate regarding this change.

How will my professional development courses be listed on my official transcript?
Classes taken beginning Summer Semester 2017 will be listed on your official transcript with the 2000 class number (ex. EDUC 2000). Classes taken before May 15, 2017 will continue to be listed as a 600 class number (ex. EDUC 600).

How will this affect my North Dakota teachers license renewal?
The North Dakota Education Standards and Practices Board has indicated that transitioning to the 2000 number will go smoothly, and will make reviewing transcripts more consistent among NDUS institutions.

I plan to offer a professional development class through my school district, will this change the course approval process?
Other than the change in class number, the approval process will remain the same as previous years. Be sure to plan and get your summer courses approved by February 15, 2017 if you want them published in our summer brochure.
