NDSU DCE and Todd Olson, CFP® to Offer Money Management Series

Distance and Continuing Education at North Dakota State University, Fargo, will hold a series of four money management workshops presented by Todd Olson, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER ™ in the SGC Building located at 1919 University Dr. Fargo. Courses will be offered in November, December, January, and February and participants can choose to attend the Tuesday or Thursday sessions. See below for specific dates and times. The money management series is offered for those interested in learning the basics about college, investment and retirement planning to shape a better financial future.

Investment Basics will be held November 8 and 10, 2011, from 7:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Fundamental investment concepts will be discussed along with available investment options and how to consider some general investment strategies. Participants will learn that investment planning is about discipline and patience.

College Planning will be held December 6 and 8, 2011, from 7:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Participants will examine how much college costs today, projected costs for the future, and the building blocks that go into funding a college education.  The mysteries of financial aid will be solved and participants can see how savings choices can impact their child’s eligibility for aid.

Retirement Income Planning will be held January 10 and 12, 2012, from 7:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m. As retirement gets closer, financial concerns change from accumulation to distribution. Participants will gain an understanding of how much income is necessary during retirement years to support the retirement lifestyle they want, and how to position assets to provide that income.

Long Term Care Planning will be held February 21 and 23, 2012 from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Statistics suggest that the likelihood of needing long term care is only going to increase in the future. Come and learn what the phrase long term care means, what levels of ongoing care someone may receive and the options available in our community. 

Todd Olson, CFP® is an accomplished financial services representative with over 13 years of experience in the financial services industry. Olson obtained a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of North Dakota and has also obtained his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification. As a native of Fargo, North Dakota, Olson has grown to value the importance of family, friends and the community in which he lives.
