How is a respondent’s confidentiality protected?

Confidentiality is vital to the success of diversity and campus climate research. This is especially true when sensitive and personal topics are discussed. Although the survey can not guarantee complete anonymity, due to the demographic questions and how the respondent chooses to answer, the research team will take multiple measures to assist individual confidentiality. In the case that data is used for a publication or presentation, no personally identifiable information will be included.

Participation in this survey is voluntary. The respondent may choose to not answer any or all questions within the survey. Respondents may skip questions if they feel uncomfortable answering or feel that by answering their identity may be revealed.

What will be included in the final summary reports and when will results be available?

The final report will consists of NDSU campus climate survey results and recommendations for updating the strategic plan. Tables and graphs may be used to demonstrate study findings. All data will be stripped of identifiers prior to publication. In addition, due to the demographics at NDSU, demographic categories have potential to be small. Therefore, any categories with five or fewer responses will not be included in the final analysis.

According to the timeline the research team has adopted. The final reports will be available in Summer 2014.
