50045.9 Technology and Information Systems

The program requires the study of appropriate incorporation of technologies across all areas of educational leadership.  The program uses a variety of performance assessments of students’ understanding and ability to apply that knowledge.

Where the Standard is Met in the Program:  ED 633 Technology and Information Systems

Student Performance: All candidates in the program are required to take this course. A major assignment in ED 633 requires candidates to review the major components of a technology plan (as described in the SEIRTEC Technology Planning Manual) and assess 2 school technology plans against those plans.  Candidates then utlize technology in reporting their findings by leaving their report on a threaded discussion.  Student performance on this assignment is provided in the table below:

Technology Plan Assessment Student Performance Data

Candidates prepare a portfolio and complete an Oral Examination as culminating events in the program.  Student performance data on this standard are provided in the table below:

Department Response: This assignment will continue to be required of all candidates in the program. Faculty also discussed information from the Advisory Council Meeting and feedback from the Alumni Survey that indicated the need for candidates to be able to use technology to manage and analyze student data and use that data to improve student learning. ED 633 is only taught at Minnesota State University Moorhead so the faculty member teaching ED 633 will be informed of the data management need expressed by the field to determine if an assignment on using technology to manage student data can be incorporated into the course
