Kellam Barta, Graduate Teaching Instructor

Office: Minard 318E14

My name is Kellam, and I am an instructor, PhD student, and mental health professional. I have a BS in English and Psychology from NDSU and an MA in Sociolinguistics from NC State.

Here are the classes I teach:

  • ENG 120 - College Composition II
  • ENG 209 - Introduction to Linguistics
  • ENG 320 - Business and Professional Writing
  • WGS 112 - Introduction to Masculinities Studies

I also served as an assistant/consultant for ENG 453/653 - Social & Regional Varieties of English.

As a researcher, I am interested in semantics - especially how words tend to change meaning over time. I'm also interested in how attitudes about mental illnesses are reflected in the words chosen to describe them (on TV, at the grocery store, etc.).

I like to run and to cook and then eat.

Student Focused. Land Grant. Research University.
