Make a Donation

The Emily Reynolds Historic Costume Collection is currently accepting donations.

If you are interested in having an object considered for inclusion into our collection, the process is as follows:

  1. Contact the Emily Reynolds Historic Costume Collection (701-231-7362 or email Susan Curtis or Ann Braaten) about the object you are interested in donating. This allows collection representatives to determine whether the object fits into the needs of the collection.
  2. The costume collection representative will ask you to ship or bring the object to NDSU. The mailing address is:

    Emily Reynolds Historic Costume Collection
    NDSU, Dept # 2610
    P.O. Box 6050
    Fargo, ND 58108-6050
  3. The acquisitions committee will review the object for inclusion into the collection. If the object is accepted, donors will be contacted. If the object is not accepted, it will be returned to the donor or shared with other entities, as indicated by the donor.
  4. A description of the gift and a deed of gift form will be sent to the donor for his or her signature. The completion of the paperwork transfers ownership of the donated object to NDSU.
  5. Any information that you may have about the garment's maker or the object's acquisition, its owners, where it was worn, the wearer's family history, and where they lived is appreciated. This information helps future historians understand the people who used the object.

Financial Donations

Much of the funding required for care of the Emily Reynolds Historic Costume Collection is given by individuals concerned with preserving history and culture through dress. This financial support helps to buy supplies needed to protect and conserve the artifacts in the collection and to fund outreach activities including this web site as well as traditional printed materials.

Please consider making a tax-deductible gift to help support the efforts of the Emily Reynolds Historic Costume Collection.

Suggested Levels of Giving:

Please include the following information with your donation:
Name, Address, City, State, Zip Code, Phone Number, Email Address.

Checks can be made payable to "NDSU Development Foundation." Please write ERHCC in the memo of your check to direct your gift to the Costume Collection.

Thank you for your thoughtfulness and consideration.
