About us

Welcome to the NDSU Events Calendar. This calendar provides NDSU students, faculty and staff with information about major events at NDSU, events supported by student fees, and important dates and deadlines for the university community. NDSU events that highlight and promote NDSU’s cultural and ethnic diversity are also encouraged. In addition, the calendar is a tool for alumni and friends of the university community.

Event Calendar Acceptable Use

University departments and student organizations that submit events are responsible for the content of their submissions. As an educational community, the free exchange and discussion of ideas is an important principle.

Items on the Event Calendar are submitted by authorized users and are subject to review. The types of events represented are of interest to the entire university and fall under the general categories of: athletics, commencement, conferences, dance, discussions, exhibitions, fairs, films, forums, lectures, movies, readings, receptions, recreation, seminars, special events, theater. NDSU events happening off- campus are also appropriate for the Events Calendar.

In general, non-NDSU events, announcements, or advertising are not appropriate for the events calendar.

Submitting Events

Each division of the University has designated individuals who post to the event calendar. Upon receiving an Event Calendar login and training, calendar users post events directly to the calendar. Contact the representative from your area to get a login. Users of the Event Calendar include students and all NDSU employees, as well as prospective students, families, community members, and friends of NDSU. Each event should appropriately promote NDSU and reflect well on our institution. To assist all users of the Event Calendar, events should be posted well in advance of the event date and provide thorough information. All boxes on the data entry form should be completed, including contact phone, email, and the webpage of the Department or Student Organization hosting the event.

Approved users submit events to the calendar. Completed events are approved and posted by the appropriate person. Submissions are returned to the sender if information is not complete or suitable for the Event Calendar. It is in everyone’s best interest to post dates as early as possible. Events are processed Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

Room Scheduling

Although the NDSU Events Calendar is a useful tool for planners, entering an event does not reserve a location for your event. Actual room reservations are made by using established university procedures.

Development of the NDSU Events Calendar

A committee with representatives from various NDSU divisions began work on an events calendar in fall, 2007. Of major concern to the committee was the creation of a centralized and functional events calendar that achieves the following:

  • Provides students with a calendar of events specifically funded by their general student fees.
  • Provides information about major events at NDSU that are of interest to the entire university. Other events that highlight NDSU’s cultural and ethnic diversity are also encouraged.
  • Provides helpful dates and deadlines for students, faculty, staff, and guests to the University.

With software development expertise from ITS and perseverance of the committee the first version of the calendar was implemented in September of 2008. During the 2008-2009 academic year the committee will evaluate whether or not to expand the scope of the calendar; comments and suggestions for future versions of the calendar are appreciated.
