CCAST Advanced Research Computing Training Session (Conference/Workshop/Seminar)

CCAST is conducting a series of training sessions to introduce the basics of advanced research computing to faculty, students, researchers, and anyone who may be interested. The events, offered every other Thursday, from 2:00–3:30 p.m., will include lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on sessions where participants have opportunities to run simple and not-so-simple programs on CCAST’s high-performance computing (HPC) clusters. This training series aims to provide participants with basic knowledge to make good use of local and national HPC facilities and ultimately to advance their research capabilities. No prior knowledge of advanced computing and computer programming is needed!
The schedule for the training sessions is as follows:

September 13: Introduction to HPC, HPC resources at NDSU (and elsewhere)

September 27: Basics of Linux environment, Message-Passing Interface (MPI)

October 11: Parallel computing using MPI, graphical representation of MPI processes

October 25: Efficient use of HPC resources: Parallel scaling performance

November 8: Linux virtualization, application containers, and Singularity

All training sessions will take place in the Main Library (1201 Albrecht Blvd.), Room 14 (computer lab in the lower level). The events are free and open to NDSU community; however, space is limited to 25 seats per session.

PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED! Please register before 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, by emailing ndsu.ccast.training@ndsu.edu

Prospective participants might register for any training sessions they are interested in; however, registering and attending the entire series is strongly encouraged.
