Karsch, Ferdinand Anton Franz (b. 1853; d. 1936) - Most of his types should be in the Zoologisches Museum, Humboldt Universität, Berlin (ZMHB). Karsch did not designate types. In many cases, he did indicated which sexes he had, and in some cases would indicated how many of each sex. If he listed only 1 specimen, it can be considered a HT, otherwise all specimens should be regarded as STS. Citations: Musgrave (1932), Anonymous (1937a, b), Bonnet (1946), and Marwinski (1974).

Kirby, William (b. 1759, Witnesham, Suffolk Co., England; d. July 4, 1850, Barham, England) - He studied at Caius College, Cambridge, England, where he graduated in 1871.  He lived in an English country parsonage in Barham, England.  He was first exposed to Natural History by Dr. Nicholas Gwynn and Sir James Edward Smith from whom he sought advice on how to set up a Natural History Museum in Ipswich. Published the first comprehensive treatment on the bees of England. Considered to be the "Father of Entomology" in England. Heteroptera collection should be in the Museum of Natural History, London (BMNH). Did not designate types, but sometimes indicated how many specimens he had; he did not usually indicate what sex(es) he had. Types should be considered to be syntypes unless he stated that he had a single specimen, in which case this would be the holotype. Kirby, William Forsell (b. Jan. 14, 1844, Leicester, England; d. 1912) -  He was privately educated.  His main interest was the moths and butterflies.  In 1867, he became curator of the Museum of the Royal Dublin Society.  In 1879, he joined the staff at the British Museum of Natural History. Types should be in the Museum of Natural History, London (BMNH); some of his collection may be in the National Collection of Ireland, Dublin (NMID). Kiritshenko, Alexandr Nikolayevich (b. Sept. 9, 1884, Berdyansk, Zaporozh’ye Province, Russia [now Ukraine]; d. Jan. 23, 1971, St. Petersburg, Russia) - Collection conserved in the Zoological Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences, St. Petersburg (ZMAS). Citations: Tzevetkova (1967), Kerzhner & Stackelberg (1971), and Tamanini (1972).

Kirkaldy, George Willis (b. July 26, 1873, Clapham, London, England; d. Feb. 2, 1910, San Francisco, CA, USA) - Was of Scottish ancestry. Parents were William Hay Kirkaldy and Jane Steele Kirkaldy; wife was Annie K. Brenham; had one boy and one girl, the boy died in infancy. Much of his collection was donated to J. R. de la Torre-Bueno, who eventually deposited it along with his own collection in the Snow Museum, University of Kansas, Lawrence (SEMC); some of his collection may be in the Bernice P. Bishop Museum, Honolulu (BPBM), the Museum of Natural History, London (BMNH), and/or in the U.S. National Museum of Natural History (USNM). Kirschbaum, Carl Ludwig (b. Jan. 31, 1812, Usingen; d. Mar. 2, 1880, Wiesbaden) - Collection conserved in the Naturw. Samml., Museum Wiesbaden, Wiesbaden, Germany (MWNH). Citations: Anonymous (1880a-f), Koch (1880), and Kraatz (1880).

Klug, Johann Christoph Friedrich (b. May 5, 1775, Berlin; d. 1856) - Held Appointment as Director of the Zoologisches Museum, Humboldt Universität, Berlin (ZMHB), where most of his collection is conserved. Gerstäcker (1856) presented some biographical information as well as a bibliography. Citations: Bell (1857), Marseul (1887), and Musgrave (1932).

Knight, Harry Hazelton (b. May 13, 1889, Koshkonong, MO, USA; d. Sept. 6, 1976, Ames, IA, USA) - Most of collection deposited in the U.S. National Museum of Natural History (USNM); a few specimens may be found in the Texas A&M University Collection, the Insect Collection, Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa (ISUI), and the Biosystematics Research Centre, Ottawa." Citation: Slater (1978).

Kolenati, Friedrich Anton (b. 1813; d. 1864) - Parts of his collection may be found in various places: "Caucasus types" in Naturhistorisches Museum, Wien, Austria (NHMW), some in Zoological Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences, St. Petersburg (ZMAS), some in the National Museum of Natural History, Department of Entomology, Prague (NMPC), and some in Technische Hochschule, Brno, Czech Republic (THBC). See Kerzhner (2003) for information on coreoid and pentatomoid types. Citation: Anonymous (1888).

Kormilev, Nicholas Alexander (b. Jan. 29, 1901, Yalta; d. Apr. 22, 1998, St. Petersburg, FL, USA) - Recent worker primarily on Aradidae and Reduviidae (Phymatinae). Early material is in Natural History Museum in Belgrade (Protić, 1981, 1987); intermediate material is in the Museo Nacional de Historia Natural, Buenos Aires, Argentina (MACN: see Bachmann, 1999) and some is in the Museo de la Plata, Argentina (MLPA); later material in U.S. National Museum of Natural History (USNM). Krynicki, Johann (b. 1797; d. 1838) - Collection resides in the University of Kharkov, Ukraine (UCCU). Citation: Kaleniczenko (1839).
