Menestheus Stål, 1868

Menestheus Stål, 1868: 504.

Type Species: : Sciocoris nercivus: Stål, 1867 (not Dallas, 1851), by monotypy - see note below.

Included Species:
cuneatus Distant [image]

Tribal Placement:

Comments: Bergroth (1912) concluded that Stål (1868) based his new genus, Menestheus, on a misidentified type species. The true nercivus of Dallas (1851) according to Bergroth and followed by Gross (1975), belongs in the genus Paramenestheus. Bergroth stated that Stål’s specimens probably belonged to an undescribed species related to Menestheus cuneatus Distant, 1899.
