Lerida Karsch, 1894
(updated 21 April 2005)

Pentatoma (Ilerda) Stål, 1865: 170. (junior homonym of Ilerda Doubleday, 1847, Lepidoptera)

Ilerda: Stål, 1876: 58, 77.

Lerida Karsch, 1894: 100. (new name for Ilerda Stål, 1865)

Menuthias Kirkaldy, 1904: 280. (unnecessary new name for Ilerda Stål, 1865)

Type Species: Pentatoma (Ilerda) rubicunda StDl, 1865, by subsequent designation (Kirkaldy, 1909).

Tribal Placement: Linnavuori (1982) included this genus in his Veterna generic group.

Included Species:

annulicornis (Signoret)
fusca Bergroth
punctata (Palisot de Beauvois)
rubicunda (Stål)

Comments: Linnavuori (1982) provided a key to four non-Madagascaran species, but later (1986) he placed three of these species as junior synonyms of the remaining species.  So, now all specimens from mainland Africa should be referred to Lerida punctata.  The remaining three species occur only on Madagascar, and were keyed by Cachan (1952).
