Type Species: Priassus spiniger Haglund, 1868, by subsequent monotypy.

Comments:

Mesopriassus was first proposed without description by Kiritshenko (1951); Stichel (1961, 1962) also listed this genus without description. Kiritshenko (1964) finally validated the genus and species by providing a description and figures. Popov (1964) effectively synonymized Mesopriassus under Priassus when he placed its type species, M. vetustus, as a junior synonym of P. exemptus.
