Thoreyella Spinola, 1850

Thoreyella Spinola, 1850: 34.

Uditta Stål, 1860: 23-24. (syn. by Stål, 1872)

Type species: Thoreyella: Thoreyella brasiliensis Spinola, 1850, by monotypy.  Uditta: Uditta impicta StDl, 1860 (= Thoreyella brasiliensis Spinola, 1850), by monotypy.

Tribal placement: Rider (1994) included Thoreyella in his generic conspectus of the Procleticini.

Comments: This genus was revised by Rolston (1984).
 

Key to species of Thoreyella (from Rolston, 1984)

1     Each spiracle slightly elevated on conspicuous callus; anterolateral margins of pronotum usually sparsely denticulate

brasiliensis Spinola

–     Spiracles neither elevated nor on callus; anterolateral margins of pronotum without clearly defined denticles

2(1) Width and length of scutellum subequal; lateral margins of juga subparallel before apex of head; head markedly darker than pronotal disk

–     Scutellum about one-tenth longer than wide at base; lateral margins of juga tapering toward apex of head, nowhere subparallel; head nearly concolorous with pronotal disk
