Geomorphology in Minnesota

While Minnesota isn't known for mountains, there are steep bluffs throughout the state.  These bluffs are the focus of a great deal of interest among citizens, scientists, and policy makers.  There is evidence that they erode faster today than they did before we started changing the landscape to suit our needs.  The rapid erosion contributes to pollution in streams, and landslides can cause damage to property and infrastructure or in some cases be deadly.
