March 23: Overnight, a blanket of heavy snow + ice buries a pile of sandbags stacked at El Zagal Golf Course. This new snowfall adds ~3 cm of equivalent water-content onto frozen ground, and the subsequent cold weather further delays the spring melt. Red River stage (at Fargo): 16.5'.

April 2: The entire width of the actual, dynamic "Red River Valley" is shown in this view from Moorhead looking toward Fargo. The valley carved by the river here is about 500 m, with narrow floodplain occupied by the river. When the river rises above these valley walls, it spills onto the plain left by Lake Agassiz as a shallow, broad, slow-moving flood. Red River stage (at Fargo): 20.3'.
