Hello, this is Asif Arshid, an international 2nd year Ph.D. student in Civil Engineering. Pakistan is my home country, where I completed my undergraduate in 2007. I spent two years in Japan to earn my Masters. I joined NDSU in Fall-2015 and quickly became involved in many student organizations and advisory boards. Currently, I am President of Graduate Student Council (GSC) and Senator of Graduate Studies in Student Government. I made it to Homecoming Court 2016. I love outdoor activities, long drives, and camping/hiking.
Ph.D. Student - Occupational and Adult Education
Hello, I am Vickie. I received my Master’s from the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND, where I studied curriculum, instruction, and assessment in K-12. After teaching high school language arts for five years, I decided to transition from teaching in the K-12 system to preparing K-12 teachers, so my interests brought me to NDSU to obtain my Ph. D. in education. My current interest of study is teacher preparation, curriculum/instruction in K-12, and education psychology. Currently, I am teaching one section of educational psychology and supervising student teachers, concurrent with my research on mindfulness and self-efficacy in new teachers.
Hello, I am Swetha. I am currently a graduate student in Pharmaceutical Sciences department. I am from Tamil Nadu, India and have started my Ph.D. program at NDSU in Spring-2016. My research is currently focused on understanding the role of a protein called ‘RAGE’ in cancer. During my undergraduate study, I was selected as a Semester abroad Student to do my final year project in University College Cork, Ireland. Also, I had volunteered and served for a non-governmental organization 'Green Nest' that promoted underprivileged children's right to education.
I am Corina, an international doctoral candidate in the School of Education, Occupational and Adult Education track. I am from Transylvania, Romania, and have started my Ph.D. program at NDSU in Fall 2013. Since then I have been a member of various student organizations and committees on campus. I am currently studying international doctoral students’ experiences in the U.S. academic and cultural setting, and how the relationships they develop with their faculty, advisors, and peers impact their learning journey and personal transformation.
