Position Description:

The Graduate Office Assistant is a graduate student position in the Center for Writers. This position is an integral part of the writing center and is assigned the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Greet writing center visitors and help to direct them to services as needed;
  • Maintain, address concerns with, and troubleshoot the scheduling of appointments—including undergraduate, graduate, online, and walk-in/same-day appointments;
  • Advertise workshops and other writing center activities;
  • Produce PR materials, including brochures and posters;
  • Update Facebook, Twitter, and web pages;
  • Assist with administering surveys and gathering other data for program assessment;
  • Maintain writing center files;
  • Assist with writing initiatives as needed.

Qualifications:

The candidate must be a degree-seeking student in a graduate program. The ideal candidate will:

  • Be personable and a good communicator;
  • Be able to quickly learn new systems;
  • Pay attention to detail;
  • Have strong multitasking skills;
  • Be able to work independently and professionally.

The following would be welcome:

  • Experience with document design and web design;
  • Writing and editing skills.

Terms of Employment:

This position requires 20 hours per week for fall and spring semesters. Work during summer semester is optional. Work hours will be 4 hours per day, Monday through Friday, with some flexibility. The appointment is expected to begin on January 22, 2017.

Stipend:

$16/hour and a full base NDSU tuition waiver.
