Academics, social interaction and housing combine in an exciting way for students choosing majors within the college. The Human Development and Education Learning Community, located on the fourth and fifth floors of Seim Hall, will be home base for 68 students choosing to live and learn together.
Research finds higher GPAs, greater persistence in college and higher overall first-year satisfaction for students who choose a learning community for their first university experience.
In addition to enrolling in at least one class together in the fall and another in the spring, there will be focused faculty and staff interaction, service-learning projects and social events designed specifically for this group of students.
Visit the Residence Life website to learn which majors are eligible and to complete a housing application. The program is limited to the first 68 qualifying students, based on date of application. If you’ve already submitted your housing preferences and care to make changes, contact Residence Life.
In addition, LAUNCH is an optional, early move-in, extended orientation event expressly for students choosing Learning Community housing. Students interested in attending LAUNCH will submit a separate application for the program once housing assignments are disseminated. During
LAUNCH, you’ll meet faculty and staff within the college, become familiar with campus, meet new friends and take part in campus Move-In Day.
