See a need? Lend a hand.

COVID-19 has affected many individuals across the nation and put them in a position of need. Many will seek the services provided by that of the Fargo Emergency Food Pantry and other food pantries in the United States.

NDSU Master of Public Health graduate student Carissa Brownotter shared her experiences of working at the food pantry and the need for donations with fellow students. Having access to healthy and nutritious foods plays an important role in the overall well-being of people's physical and mental health. Students in the NDSU Public Health program are educated and trained on such topics, along with public health interventions that help alleviate the pressures and prevent future challenges from occurring.

Many different student groups in the NDSU College of Health Professions worked together to hold a two-week food drive during November and December 2020. More than 300 pounds of food was collected and donated to the Fargo Emergency Food Pantry.

Groups that participated in the drive included:  NDSU Public Health Association, faculty and staff from the NDSU Department of Public Health, NDSU chapter of the National Community Pharmacists Association, NDSU Students of Allied Sciences Club, and the NDSU American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists.

“We hope to continue serving our community in as many ways as possible during these difficult and stressful times,” said Madison Marion, MPH class of 2021.

As a student involved in Health Professions student groups, there are many ways to #ExperienceNDSU
