Microsoft Office Certification

Over the course of the past three years, the Division of Finance and Administration has initiated and promoted a training and certification program to help employees work more effectively within Microsoft Office applications. In the last year, over 100 employees worked toward certifications in Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint.

The most beneficial outcome from having employees work toward certification is not the certification itself, but the increased efficiency with which they can perform their daily tasks. Employees who have attended this training program regularly report that they have a better understanding of how to use the broad range of tools available to them in Microsoft Office. Many employees have reported that they have learned multiple tips or tricks within this certification program that have allowed them to modify their processes and perform in minutes or hours the same tasks that used to take them hours or days. Time invested in this training regularly results in time savings of a significantly greater magnitude. The employee is also rewarded with an internationally recognized professional credential.

This year, the NDSU Staff Senate has funded the cost of the program, meaning there is no cost for NDSU employees to participate. However, there are a limited number of certifications available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please encourage your employees to visit https://www.ndsu.edu/softwarecertification to learn more and sign up for this cost effective and time saving training opportunity.
