2018 Flexible Spending Account enrollment with Discovery Benefits is open from November 1 - November 20, 2017. Enrollment can be done online at https://www.discoverybenefits.com or via paper enrollment form returned to Human Resources and Payroll. First time enrollees must complete a paper form. Please contact our office if you need the paper form.
Flexible Spending Accounts must be elected/enrolled in each year and run on the calendar year.
Medical Spending Account: allows an eligible employee to set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for medical expenses that are not paid by insurance, the employer, or reimbursed by any other source. Office visit co-pays, prescriptions, dental and vision expenses that are not cosmetic in nature would qualify.
Maximum election is $2650 for calendar year 2018.
Dependent Care Spending Account: allows an eligible employee to pay for day care expenses with pre-tax dollars for children under the age of 13 or for adult day care for a disabled spouse or other disabled dependent. The usual IRS rules about what constitutes eligible dependent care expenses apply.
Maximum election for calendar year 2018 is $5000 for a single person, $5000 for a married couple filing a joint tax return or $2500 for a married person filing a separate tax return. Requests for reimbursement from a Dependent Care Reimbursement Account will be paid according to the dollars available in your account to date.
