Azalea Benjamin

Dietetics: Major

Hometown: Jackson, MN

I decided to join the Ambassadors because I wanted to be involved in something on campus that not only help me go beyond my comfort zone, but to be able to help other students.

I am the current President-Elect (VP)

I am really looking forward to some of our service projects! I am really excited to become more familiar and involved with NDSU and the Fargo area. A fun fact about me is that I moved a TON and have been to 13 schools before college and have only been in the midwest for two and a half years. I used to live in Texas.

My favorite (and very random) NDSU experience was going to West when there was a middle school field trip, and I was getting takeout. Some kids were in the way, so I asked them to hand me a straw and they stared at me like I just spoke Chinese or something. One kid finally snapped out of it, nudged his friend and said, "Giver her a straw!" My advice to students (although I'm a freshman and have yet to gain my wisdom) is to try literally anything you want to. Now is the time in your life to explore every possibility and figure out who you are.

Gabriella Haines

Hi! My name is Gabby Haines. I am a freshman majoring in dietetics. I am from St. Michael, MN and so far my favorite experience at NDSU is cheering at the homecoming football game. I chose to join HSE Ambassadors because I thought it would be a really good way to get involved here at NDSU, meet new people with similar majors, and help out in the community! I am looking forward to making tie blankets for the Ronald McDonald House and all the other volunteering opportunities this year. My ultimate career goal as of right now is to start my own gym with a dietetics office and refueling cafe in it.

Samantha Hendrickson

Samantha is a freshman majoring in Human Development and Family Science.

Kenzie Jacques

Hi there! My name is Kenzie, and I am a freshman majoring in Human Development and Family Science and minoring in Women and Gender Studies. I am originally from Devils Lake, ND. I chose to join HSE Ambassadors because I wanted to meet new people, especially those who were taking similar classes as I am. I also was not a part of any clubs at NDSU, so I wanted to venture out and join something new. I am definitely looking forward to making new friends in this group (I hear people get really close in HSE!). I am looking forward to making the tie blankets as well. My plans after graduation are to continue my education and receive a master's degree. After that, I wish to become an advisor at any university. A fun fact about me is that I am super short! (I'm only 4'11" lol). My favorite NDSU experience has been getting to know my suitemates and having fun, memorable adventures with them. My advice for other students on campus would be to put your studies first and focus on doing well, but don't forget to have fun as well as you will only be in college for a few years of your life.

Eliza Johnson

Hi! My name is Eliza Johnson and I am from Valley City, ND. I am majoring in dietetics, and I am currently serving as the president of HSE Ambassadors. I am looking forward to Discover Days this semester because I love getting to meet prospective students. One fun fact about me is that I learned how to cross country ski when I came to college. I’m still not very good, but I love it! My advice for students is to get involved on campus and put yourself out there.

Allie Kappenman

Hi my name is Allie Kappenman! I am a freshman in the HDFS and Elementary Education program. I am from Madison South Dakota and am looking forward to being more involved as an HSE Ambassador. I chose to join HSE Ambassadors to be more involved on campus and to get to know people with the same interests as I do. My favorite part about being an ambassador so far is making tie blankets with my fellow Ambassadors. A fun fact about me is that I only wear socks that are crazy and fun!

I also wanted to surround myself with people that have common interests as me! :) Something I am looking forward to for the semester is to get closer with everyone and to help out in the NDSU community! After graduation I am not completely sure yet what my plan is but hopefully I will return to my home town and find a teaching job for 4th or 5th grade around the area!  A fun fact about me is that my favorite food is wontons and I love making them homemade! My favorite NDSU experience was probably the first ever bison football game I went to! It was such an amazing experience I cried haha! My advice for students is to get involved and join clubs! You meet a lot of amazing new people that like things you like!

I wanted to join HSE Ambassadors to meet more people with similar interests and build connections with them. I am looking forward to meeting the new Dean of our college this semester, and if I had to give advice to students, I would say to take every opportunity to spend time with your friends… especially plans made on a whim! Fun fact: I LOVE plants and coffee!
