Extension Service faculty and staff honored

NDSU Extension Service faculty and staff were honored at the Extension/Research Extension Center Fall Conference Oct. 13-16 at the Fargo Holiday Inn.

Program Excellence awards were presented to the Barbecue Boot Camp team and the Pickin’ Patch team. Cash awards, sponsored by Farm and Ranch Guide, were presented to the winning teams.

Barbecue Boot Camp was an educational program carried out for more than 800 people at 10 locations across the state to help people learn about meat grilling, food safety, agricultural issues and more. Team members were David Newman, Paul Berg, Eric Berg, Julie Garden-Robinson, Austen Germolus, Robert Maddock, Wendy Becker, Kristin Newman, Vern Anderson, Trent Gilbery, J.W. Schroeder, Charlie Stoltenow, David Buchanan, Kasey Carlin, Greg Lardy, Dale Siebert, Brian Zimprich, Tim Becker, Cathy Palczewski, Kurt Froelich, Crystal Martodam, Ashley Lepper, Theresa Jeske, Erin Harris, Jim Magolski, Noah Hall, June Kraft, Rita Ussatis, Donna Anderson, Debra Lee, Colleen Svingen, Jennifer Illich, Eunice Sahr and Mary Froelich.

Pickin’ Patch: Feeding Big Appetites from Small Spaces reached more than 250 adults and children in Grand Forks, Walsh, Traill, Steele and Nelson Counties. They learned how to grow and prepare vegetables, and incorporate physical activity into their lives. Team members were Donna Bernhardt, Steve Sagaser, Carrie Knutson, Jean Noland, Linda Kuster, Brad Brummond, Sue Fagerholt, Tara Sondeland, Kristi Berdal, Nels Peterson, Andy Johnson, Marty Fear, Leigh Gunkel, Lesley Lubenow and Head Start staff.
